March Madness

So yes, today is my oldest sister's birthday. Happy Birthday, Wendy! I shan't divulge her age 'cause she wouldn't like that. I'm a good brother, see....

Now that we have that out of the way.... HA! Yes, it is true that we are entering March Madness, but not for typical reasons held dear by the general public. I am on the verge of insanity brought on by the directing a show which opens in two weeks. Night Under the Stars has been my life for the last three months, and I'm living for the day when I don't have to think about it for a while. We're in the last long haul before opening night, and frankly, I'm beginning to notice hints of serious paranoia setting in. You know, lights, sound, concessions, programs, publicity (YIKES!), musicians, costumes.... it's just so overwhelming and I'm feeling the heat right now, especially after one of my divo students decided to walk out of my rehearsal after I told him to shut his mouth. I can't imagine being so brazen when I was a teenager. Granted, I had my days (will my family ever let me live down their favorite quotations from my youth?!), but to talk back to a teacher and just leave a rehearsal.... WOW! We'll just have to see whether we're doing some last minute alterations to the show.

I just spoke with my friend Fritz for the first time since, well, what, was it his wedding? or was it Kimmy's wedding? I can't say that I remember, but I'm so glad that I've been able to reconnect with one of my dear college friends. We're talking about writing a musical version of The Count of Monte Cristo, but I've had something hiding in the back of my brain that says someone has already done that. Nonetheless, I've been wanting to do something like that for a while, and this might just be the impetus I need to get my behind in gear. Maybe I could convince him to try the musical theatre writing degree at NYU sometime down the road. Or maybe we'll just get famous 'cause we're all that.... I find it ironic that I was just watching the bio-pic on Rodgers & Hart showing on AMC this morning before I left for school. All I know is that I can't wait to be singing "June is Bustin' Out All Over!!"

Okay, I've been here a couple times and you still haven't updated. :) We were supposed to keep each other accountable and stuff. ... But you have the program (and I haven't even posted the first post on mine!) so I'll give you a break! :)
